Last week I shared my peer review of Hassan Abdullahi’s Portfolio, and this week I read Hassan’s peer review of ReRouted and have since taken the much appreciated feedback to continue working towards progression of the professional self. ReRouted has created a logo and an Instagram page that you can check out and follow here!
As promised, the image above is the official logo of ReRouted! Using Microsoft Word, we were able to create a logo that replicates ReRouted’s qualities and features through symbolism and simplicity. To reiterate our simplistic and minimalistic theme, our logo’s colours are not meant to consume the attention from our most important feature of this brand; our podcasts and audio, but rather to highlight the substance of our site – the content. In the creation of this logo, we have used typeface font Bahnschrift SemiBold SemiConden. Choosing a font was arguably the most difficult task of the process because it had to be bold and appealing without being obnoxious or distracting. With Bahnschrift font types, the moment it was applied we knew we had a great candidate. Sharp corners and clean edges keep ReRouted’s style intact while also boldly catching the attention of viewers upon their first landing. Finally, the symbols have been chosen to once again represent our criterion. Using a simple audio symbol represents this brand’s primary content while the multidirectional arrow represents various routes and an open ended path.
The second process taken place this week is our official ReRouted Instagram page! This too, has been a long time coming and it will now become a goal of ours to build our online presence through social media outlets. I feel that in waiting to establish this social media presence, I have attained the goal of wanting to showcase something that was substantial as opposed to being one or two pieces of media that limited the degree of interaction one could have with the site. Ultimately, the decision to abstain from marketing in this manner was to avoid losing returning users who were potentially dissatisfied with limited resources. To accomplish this, I will be adding an interactive Instagram link on the homepage of our website. I will be monitoring how often this is accessed and be mindful of which interviews attain certain followers and impressions, thus informing me on future invitations, topics and questions. In this manner, I hope to use Instagram as not only a marketing platform, but also a source for collecting data.
